I found this movie on Netflix, and I ended up liking it.
While trying to track down his grandfather in Denmark, a surly Canadian (Gethin Anthony) strikes up a friendship with a teenage waitress (Frederikke Dahl Hansen) who agrees to serve as his translator and guide.
I wasn’t quite sure about this movie because of the age gap between the characters–a possible romance movie between a 28 year old and a 14 year old…? But, I decided to give it a try, and it was worth it! I really enjoyed the way the movie was shot. Everything felt very realistic, and it felt like I was there in Copenhagen. Frederikke Dahl Hansen also did a fantastic job playing Effy. While William is completely intolerable in the beginning, his friendship/relationship/whatever-it-is with Effy helps him to see the world a little differently. Also, the scenery of Copenhagen is beautiful! It’s like a mini tour of the city.
